Safety and Legislative Updates Scheduled During Fall Toy
Preview
September 15, 2009 – A complimentary TIA
Safety and Legislative Update will be held during Fall Toy
Preview® on Wednesday, October 7, at the Expo on 1 in the
Dallas Market Center.
From 9:00 – 10:30 am, members of the TIA Government Affairs
team will share the latest news on pending state and federal legislation
impacting the toy industry as well as efforts which are underway to
advance the harmonization of toy safety standards around the world.
Immediately thereafter, from 10:45 am - noon, staff of the Toy Safety
Certification Program® (TSCP) will provide an update on the program
and its imminent launch to toy industry participants. A key focus
of the presentation will be how the TSCP helps companies meet CPSC and
CPSIA requirements.
Registration for both of these educational sessions is free with
advance registration. On-site registration will be available in
the lobby of the World Trade Center. Individuals who have already
registered for the show can go back to the online registration page to
add the seminars and update their profiles.
Fall Toy Preview is designed to give buyers from the mass retail
sector a central marketplace in which to meet one-on-one with their
vendors on a complementary timetable from 12-15 months in advance of
in-store delivery. This year’s event brings the best of the
toy industry under one roof, and will be held from October 6th-9th at
the World Trade Center in Dallas, Texas. Advance registration continues
to grow, with more than 620 pre-registered buyers, representative of the
world’s top long-lead and mass market retail outlets. View

During today’s TIA Town Hall meeting in Chicago, a
representative of one of the exhibiting companies recommended that the
Association revisit the scheduling of its education sessions held in
conjunction with trade events with a view towards finding a date and
time that more attendees can participate.
“Fall Toy Preview and Toy Fair each present ideal opportunities
to provide the industry with updates on the critical legislative,
advocacy and safety issues which affect our day to day business,”
said Carter Keithley, TIA president. “We will do our best to
schedule educational programming so that members and exhibitors can
maximize the time they spend in their booths and also find opportunities
to participate in the information sessions that are essential to their
businesses.”
TIA members are encouraged to suggest timing preferences – as
well as ideas for program content – to Association
staff.
