The Stories Behind the Toys – Inventor Inspiration
May 29, 2012 | As National Inventors Month comes to a close, the
Toy Industry Association (TIA) has compiled a list of toys – and
the fascinating stories behind them – to keep toymakers and toy
enthusiasts inspired all year long.
Built on a foundation of innovation, the toy industry depends upon
the vision, creativity, perseverance and drive of inventors and
designers to bring toys and games from idea to fruition. These new
ideas are the backbone of the toy industry and the need for innovative
product is constant.
Visit ToyInfo.org to learn about a few inventors from
long ago who created the classic playthings that have touched lives for
generations … and read about the innovators behind some popular
modern-day toys and games.
Homage to all inventors was paid throughout May as part of
National Inventors Month, which promotes the positive image of
individual inventors and their contributions to society. National
Inventors Month (formerly held in August) was launched in 1998 by the
United Inventors Association of the USA (UIA-USA), the Academy of
Applied Science, and Inventors’ Digest magazine.
