Fall Toy Preview Welcomes Global Retail Giants to Preview Innovative Product for 2014

October 5, 2013 | An outstanding array of big-name retailers hailing from nearly three dozen countries flocked to Dallas, TX last week to attend the Toy Industry Association’s (TIA) Fall Toy Preview.

More than 670 long-lead buyers –28% of which were international – from 322 retail outlets including Walmart, Toys‘R’Us, Build-a-Bear Workshop, Family Dollar, Meijer, CVS, GameStop, Skymall and 99 Cents Only Stores visited the Dallas Market Center to preview hundreds of toys and games slated for release in 2014. AAFES, Amazon.com, Costco, JC Penney, Kohls, QVC and Target were among the mass chains represented by more buyers than in previous years.

ThinkFun, Spin Master, Melissa & Doug, Alexander Doll Company, Diggin Active, K’Nex Brands, Fashion Angels, Wild Republic, Funrise, Ohio Art and Ravensburger were among the 345 toymakers who displayed their brand new product lines in open, closed or combination booths and showrooms. Many exhibitors reported being booked with back-to-back buyer appointments and were pleased with the positive feedback they received throughout Oct. 1-3 show.

“Fall Toy Preview went off without a hitch! We are thrilled to announce that it was a major success for exhibitors and retailers alike – the event was abuzz with business meetings and order-writing, innovative new product launches, and networking events,” said Marian Bossard, TIA vice president of meetings and events.  “Members of the international toy industry from Canada, Australia, the UK, Mexico and many more countries consider Fall Toy Preview to be the first stop on the annual global toy buying circuit and a crucial opportunity to secure new product that will draw shoppers to their stores.”

The Opening Night Party held on October 1st gave attendees a chance to mingle with colleagues and peers, while the Toy Industry Next Generation (TING) Cocktail Party held immediately afterward fostered continued networking and relationship-building among toy professionals new to the industry.

Held annually at the Dallas Market Center, Fall Toy Preview gives toy buyers from long-lead and mass market retail outlets – including toy stores, department stores, pharmacies, supermarkets, specialty shops, and more – the opportunity to meet one-on-one with vendors more than a year in advance of in-store delivery. To participate, exhibitors must currently sell to mass market accounts and all products shown must be available for Q4 sales the following year.

Information about next year’s Fall Toy Preview (Oct. 7-9, 2014) will be made available in the coming months at FallToyPreview.org.
