First World Congress of Play to Take Place in San Francisco this Fall
July 18, 2013 | Leaders of play-related industries will gather at the first World Congress of Play from September 9 to 11, 2013 in San Francisco, CA to hear the latest news and developments across several topics applicable to the toy industry, including new technologies and products, online play experiences, and play and education.
“The Congress of Play will reach outside the world of toys and games for content from widely disparate sources on emerging trends in a variety of play-related settings,” explained Carter Keithley, president of the Toy Industry Association (TIA), which is a premier sponsor of the upcoming event. “Studies have shown that playing helps prepare children for adulthood, and as civilization has progressed the tools of play have changed to reflect that progress. Toy companies must observe and incorporate changing activities into their products to keep them relevant to today’s play patterns.”
Presentations at the Congress will cover areas of interest to toy company executives wishing to look beyond the normal sphere of toy development for ideas that will spark new creativity. Speakers will represent a diverse number of industries including software development, mobile augmented reality, education, and media.
Held at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square, the Congress will include networking cocktails and receptions. Registration is now open; hotel information can also be found on the event website.
The World Congress of Play was created by Richard Gottlieb and Charles Albert.
