Forms due April 12 for TIA’s Confidential Toy Industry Financial and Operating Benchmark Study
March 19, 2013 | The Toy Industry Association (TIA) is reminding TIA members that there is still time to participate in the 2013 Toy Industry Financial and Operating Benchmark Study. Initial responses are steadily rolling in from TIA manufacturers, importers and distributors looking to tap into this confidential and free-of-charge opportunity to compare their own financial and operating results to other toy companies of similar size, category and distribution channel.
BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATING IN THE STUDY
Find out how…
Your company’s financial results stack up to industry peers;
Your spending on materials, advertising or other expenses compare to those in the same category;
Whether your gross margin is better (or worse) than other toy manufacturers, distributors or importers of the same size.
Circulated to members in early March via email and hard copy mailing, the questionnaire can be completed securely online or via hard copy through April 12, 2013, when the survey period will close. There is no fee to participate.
All responses will be returned directly to survey partner Industry Insights, Inc., where they will be kept in strict confidence. No individual company data will be shared with any person or organization; TIA will receive total industry and aggregated data only.
“The first comprehensive study of its kind since 2004, the Financial and Operating Benchmark Study will confidentially analyze data provided by TIA members to provide benchmarks, barometers and statistics that will assist survey participants in making sound business decisions,” said Anne McConnell, TIA director of market research and data strategy.
Each survey participant will receive complimentary results of their company’s information alongside industry comparative totals, a “Report Card” grading their company on key operating ratios, access to an online searchable results tool, a business information dashboard to facilitate the creation of confidential customizable reports, and trend data. Only those companies who participate in the study will have the opportunity to compare their own information alongside survey data.
Companies who do not participate in study may purchase the summary results, which provide industry totals and cross sections of aggregated data, as well as access to the online searchable results tool. TIA members who do not participate in the study may purchase the results for $750; non-member companies will be able to purchase the results for $1,500.
A presentation using top line data will be made at PlayCon, TIA’s International Conference of Play Professionals (May 6-8, 2013).
Questions regarding survey specifics may be directed to Michael Becher, senior project director of Industry Insights (614.389.2100 ext. 114). All other questions may be directed to TIA’s Anne McConnell (646.520.4870).
