ICTI 39th Annual General Meeting Convenes in Washington, DC

June 4, 2013 | Members of the International Council of Toy Industries (ICTI) gathered June 2-4 in Washington, DC for the 39th Annual General Meeting (AGM) to report on toy industry performances in 2012, and to discuss priority issues for the coming year.

The meeting, hosted by the U.S. Toy Industry Association (TIA) and presided by ICTI President Lars Abel of the Nordic Association of Toy Manufacturers, focused in particular on efforts to align safety standards, preserve the right to market to children, promote the value of play, and improve the perception of the industry at large.

Monday’s agenda also featured an address from Commissioner Robert Adler of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission regarding international regulatory cooperation and global supply chain issues, and a presentation by Frederique Tutt of The NPD Group on the world economy and its implications for the international toy industry.

“The meeting was a critically important and highly fruitful opportunity for the national associations to share and discuss the various issues affecting their members. It provided industry leaders with a global perspective, and underscored that issues know no borders,” said TIA President Carter Keithley. “TIA is so pleased to have hosted such a valuable exchange of ideas in our capital city.”

As a special addition to this year’s meeting, CEOs from several toy companies around the world joined ICTI members to share their perspectives on key issues facing the industry, and to learn more about ICTI’s efforts and resources.
