Peter Chan Pui, Founder of Blue Box Toys, Dies

November 25, 2013 | The Toy Industry Association (TIA) and its members join in mourning the passing of Peter Chan Pui, Founder and Chairman of Blue Box Toys, who died on November 15th in his hometown of Hong Kong.

Mr. Chan Pui founded Blue Box Toys in 1952 with a vision toward creating a line of children’s toys and products that were educational, fun and safe. The company’s very first product was the now famous “drinks and wets” doll. Over the course of 60+ years, Mr. Chan Pui established the company’s global reputation for high quality products and infant/preschool brands, and developed Blue Box Toys into a fully integrated manufacturing, sales, and marketing organization with factories in both Hong Kong and Singapore.

In 2011, Mr. Chan Pui received the “Outstanding Achievement Award” from the Hong Kong Toys Council and the Toy Manufacturers’ Association of Hong Kong. Said his son, David Chan, CEO of Blue Box Toys in a statement: “My father was an exceptional father and human being who touched the lives of many people inside and outside of the toy industry.”
