Registration Open: Chemical Management Strategy Innovation for Toys (Webinar)
May 3, 2013 | The Toy Industry Association (TIA) is reminding toy companies of an upcoming webinar that will help them to reevaluate and revise their existing chemical management strategy to comply with recent regulations and market expectations.
Taking place on Thursday, May 22nd from 2 to 3:30 p.m. (Eastern), “Chemical Management Strategy Innovation for Toys” will provide those who work on toy design, production, procurement, raw material supply, manufacturing and quality with the information they need to gather product chemical data, engage suppliers, and ensure compliance with global requirements.
“This webinar will be of great assistance to toy companies who must gather information from suppliers in order to meet new and upcoming requirements, such as the revised European Toy Safety Directive which will come into force on July 20, 2013, and the State of Washington’s Children’s Safe Product Act,” said Alan Kaufman, TIA senior vice president of technical affairs.
Two speakers from chemical management firm SciVera, LLC – co-founder Joe Rinkevich, and vice president Patricia Beattie – will provide an overview of recent legislation, discuss trends in the roles of suppliers, retailers, and NGOs, and highlight the resources needed by toy companies in order to undertake chemical safety / risk assessment, alternatives assessment, and restricted substance screening. The webinar will be moderated by TIA’s Alan Kaufman.
Registration for the webinar is now open; the session will be free for TIA members and $49 for non-members. As with other TIA webinars, the session will be recorded and available post-event for those who are unable to participate live.
Questions from members and industry stakeholders may be submitted in advance to TIA’s Jackie Retzer; to the extent possible, answers to these questions will be folded into the presentation.
