Save the Date: Chemical Management Strategy Innovation for Toys (Webinar)
April 11, 2013 | The Toy Industry Association will host an upcoming webinar to help toy companies reevaluate – and in many cases, revise – their chemical management strategy in light of recent regulations and market expectations, such as the revised European Toy Safety Directive and the State of Washington’s Children’s Safe Product Act.
Taking place on Thursday, May 22 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. (Eastern), “Chemical Management Strategy Innovation for Toys” is open to all toy industry stakeholders and recommended for those who work on toy design, production, procurement, raw material supply, manufacturing, and quality.
Moderated by Alan Kaufman, TIA vice president of technical affairs, the webinar will feature two speakers from chemical management firm SciVera, LLC – co-founder Joe Rinkevich, and vice president Patricia Beattie – who will cover the following topics:
- Why do toy companies need a chemical management strategy?
A review of recent legislation and a discussion of trends in the roles of suppliers, retailers, and NGOs
- What does it look like?
A primer on chemical safety / risk assessment, alternatives assessment, and restricted substance screening; resources needed by companies
- How do you get started?
How to gather product chemical data, engage suppliers and prioritize
- Available solutions
The webinar will be free for TIA members and $49 for non-members; registration will open in the Knowledge Network section of the TIA website in the coming days. As with other TIA webinars, the session will be recorded and available post-event for those who are unable to participate live.
Questions from members and industry stakeholders may be submitted in advance to TIA’s Jackie Retzer; to the extent possible, answers to these questions will be folded into the presentation.
