Summer Toy Drive: Last Chance to Give
August 17, 2013 | There is still time to participate in the Toy Industry Foundation’s (TIF) annual Summer Toy Drive, which is open through August 31st. To date, more than 75 companies have contributed toys, games and plush to the 2013 collection.
Brand new playthings donated during the Summer Toy Drive are distributed to thousands of children across the country, including those who are sick, impoverished, in foster care, living on a military base, or otherwise in need. These kids are reached through The Toy Bank’s nationwide network of children’s charities, as well as through TIF’s partnerships with CASA for Children and Boys and Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) Military Services.
“We are still in need of Summer Toy Drive toys to support upcoming giveaways this fall that will bring joy and happiness into the lives of children in many difficult circumstances, including more than 35,000 children living on a dozen U.S. military bases,” said Melissa Sorvillo, TIF coordinator. “While individuals and companies generally tend to make charitable contributions during the holiday season, we can’t forget that there are children who need our help year-round.”
TIF recognizes all Toy Bank donors on the TIF website and through social media; donors will receive a supporter badge to place on their own website. Additional information can be found at www.TheToyBank.org.
Manufacturers, retailers, licensors, and distributors in the industry can contribute brand new toys to the cause by downloading and completing the donation form. Questions may be directed to TIF’s Melissa Sorvillo (646-520-4878).
The Toy Industry Foundation is now celebrating the 10th Anniversary of The Toy Bank. Over the last decade, the Foundation has provided more than ten million toys to more than ten million children in need.
