TIA Calls for Members to Update Product Listings

August 19, 2013 |  This summer, the Toy Industry Association (TIA) launched a major ‘overhaul’ of the central database that stores all information about the organization’s members, exhibitors, charitable donors, and other contacts..  As part of this project, TIA staff is now updating the database to include current information about the types of products its manufacturer members are producing.

The data collected will help TIA staff to:

  • Promote its members to retail buyers, the media and consumers in search of specific product types;
  • Update its Toy Fair Buyer and Member Directories, and create a new product resource directory for TIA’s consumer website, www.ToyInfo.org;
  • Identify which companies to contact should any category-specific safety issues arise; and
  • Determine product and trend suggestions for ToyInfo.org and media opportunities.

After compiling and comparing data from past Toy Fair directories, The NPD Group and other research organizations, 27 product categories – 21 categories for toys and 6 related “non-toy” categories – have been defined.

During this initial data collection period, a respondent will not be able to make changes to the record once the information has been entered and submitted.  As such, a “preview” of the form and an accompanying “product category definitions” document have been developed to assist members with advance preparation before logging in to complete the online form.

All input is being collected electronically here. Responses are requested as soon as possible but no later than Friday, September 20, 2013.

Data collected during this period will be automatically streamed into the exhibitor registration forms for Toy Fair 2014 and to the TIA member database for purposes described above.
