TIA Members Invited to “CREATE” A Discount for ToyDesignCon 2013

April 23, 2013 | The Toy Industry Association (TIA) is inviting the in-house creative design teams of its member companies to take part in an “I Create” social media campaign leading up to ToyDesignCon 2013: Informing and Inspiring Toy and Game Designers. The event, for which registration is now open, will be held at The Strong’s National Museum of Play in Rochester, NY from June 23-25, 2013.

Within the next two weeks, member toy companies will begin receiving a blank “I CREATE” t-shirt and (washable) marker set. Members of the design team are invited to style an “I Create” t-shirt and post a photo to Twitter with the hashtag #ToyDesignCon.

All members who decorate and post will receive a registration fee discount of $25 for every registrant from the company ($170 vs $195 per person).  A slideshow of the t-shirts will be featured at the conference and on the ToyDesignCon website.

“The ‘I Create’ campaign is a fun way to engage with creative team members in advance of this year’s conference,” said Stacy Leistner, TIA vice president of strategic communications. “We’re focusing attention on creativity and inspiration … and hope that both the program and the amazing resources of The Strong will benefit the in-house corporate design teams for all TIA member toy companies.”

ToyDesignCon 2013 will focus on the pillars of creativity while engaging attendees in the art of storytelling and encouraging them to connect with and channel their passion for art and design. This year’s roster of speakers includes a creative director from Cirque du Soleil and panels on “Transmedia Storytelling,” “Channeling the Artist Within” and “Creativity in the Game Aisle.”  Famed game designer Reuben Klamer, creator of The Game of Life, will be a featured guest with tours of The Strong and several social / networking events rounding out the program.

To register, or for additional information about the conference, please visit the ToyDesignCon webpage or contact TIA’s Jackie Retzer (646.454.5587).
