TIA’s Go-To Website for Families Updated to Include New Resources, Tips and Trends

Editorial Calendar Announced for Fall 2013

August 13, 2013 | In response to direct feedback from moms, bloggers and other members of the media, the Toy Industry Association (TIA) has updated its go-to resource for families and caregivers – ToyInfo.org – to provide even more resources about toys, trends and play.

  • On the homepage, a new “All Toys.  All Play.  All the Time.”  tagline welcomes visitors to the site.

A direct link to updated content emphasizing the value of play and offering fun play tips is directly available from the site’s top-level navigation system.  A new “See Who’s Talking about Play” section on the homepage also links out to a revolving set of play-related news articles and blog posts from third party childhood, toy and play experts.  Additionally, rotating “Cool Toy Picks of the Day” and the “Safety Toy Tip of the Day” are also featured on the homepage.

This fall, additional updates to the ToyInfo.org website will include a new “Play Tips” section, offering parents and caregivers ideas for fun, safe play, including a list of suggested skill-building activities. An accompanying social media campaign calling for public participation will serve to further expand the conversation on how children and families play.

Companies are encouraged to consult the updated editorial calendar for upcoming “Cool Toy Picks” slideshow topics; product submissions may be sent to TIA’s Jackie Retzer

  • The site’s weekly articles and slideshows about emerging toy trends and seasonal toy selections provide TIA member companies and their products with continuous exposure. So far this year, more than 150 companies and 300+ products were featured in the “Cool Toy Picks” and “Toy News” sections.
  • A new Toy Trends page provides consumers with information on popular product trends. The section features descriptions of TIA’s annual toy trends unveiled each February at Toy Fair, as well as the latest news articles and on-air video segments that highlight how those trends appear across product lines throughout the year.
  • The newly created “Meet Our Team” section introduces consumers and media to the TIA trend experts, who track more than a dozen toy categories year-round to come up with toy lists for children of every age and interest. This section includes contact information and brief biographies for each of TIA’s trend spotters.

“Since its launch in 2007, ToyInfo.org has been a constantly evolving resource for families,” said Stacy Leistner, TIA vice president of strategic communications. “From product suggestions to play tips, and from safety guidance to recall updates, we are committed to creating a valuable ‘go to’ website that is developed specifically for consumers by the toy industry.  We invite anyone and everyone to let us know of additional suggestions that can make it even better.”
