Toy Industry Foundation Opens 2013 "Play Connects" Grant Cycle
Toy Industry Association Members Encouraged to Nominate Local Charities for up to $10,000
April 16, 2013 | The Toy Industry Foundation (TIF) has announced that its 2013 Play Connects grant cycle nomination process opened today (April 16th). Play Connects will provide up to three grants, each worth up to $10,000, to children’s charities nominated by members of the Toy Industry Association (TIA). Current TIA member companies are encouraged to nominate local nonprofit charities for grants that will impact the lives of children in need within their own communities.
Each TIA member company (full and associate) can nominate one community-based charity by completing the online Nomination Form and sending it to TIF’s Marisa Medina on or before Friday, June 14, 2013. TIF will contact all nominated charities to complete their applications.
Qualified applications will be reviewed by a Committee comprised of members from the TIF Board of Trustees. Up to three grant recipients will be chosen and announced by October 31, 2013.
Thanks to last year’s awarded funds, the 2012 Play Connects grant recipients were able to expand their programs, by incorporating more play experiences into the classroom, providing shoes and clothing to children in need, training parents on developmentally appropriate play techniques for children with special needs, and distributing bags of healthy food with nutrition games to low-income students.
Last year’s Play Connects beneficiaries were:
- Community Action Partnership of Orange County in Garden Grove, CA (Nominated by Bandai America, Inc.)
- Florence Fuller Child Development Centers in Boca Raton, FL (Nominated by The Bridge Direct)
- National Lekotek Center in Chicago, IL (Nominated by ThinkFun, Inc.)
- Shoes and Clothes for Kids in Cleveland, OH (Nominated by Good Marketing, Inc.)
