Toys Donated at Trade Events Impact Kids in Need

On Thursday, October 3, the Toy Industry Foundation (TIF) will be collecting playthings from generous toy companies at the close of Fall Toy Preview. These toys and games will be distributed to more than 10,000 Dallas-area kids in need, including those who are homeless, living in military families and impoverished.
“Making an impact on the lives of children in need is as simple as donating your products at the end of a tradeshow or other industry event,” said Melissa Sorvillo, Foundation Coordinator. “Last week, we held a successful toy collection at the Time to Play Holiday Showcase in New York City, where we gathered more than 500 toys for our Toy Bank program.”
Toys collected at the Time to Play Holiday Showcase are being distributed to kids served by the New York Foundling, one of the 1,000+ charities in The Toy Bank network. The New York Foundling assists children who are at-risk, families struggling with instability, and pre-schoolers in Head Start programs.
“The New York Foundling was honored to partner with the Toy Industry Foundation. These toys will go a long way to making hundreds of kids’ wishes come true during the holiday season,” said Beth Stellato, Development & Communications and Business Operations at New York Foundling.
It’s never too late to give – to donate toys at the close of Fall Toy Preview, simply email TIF stating your interest in participating in the collection. Volunteers will be circulating the show floor late Thursday afternoon to pick up the donated product.
“We collected more than 18,000 toys last year, and we’re always looking to reach more children with every collection,” added Sorvillo. “If every exhibitor and permanent showroom participated, just imagine how many children would be able to open a new toy this holiday season.”
