Toys Needed for Evening of Play at Ronald McDonald House

May 14, 2013 | The Ronald McDonald House of New York City will be transformed into a wild safari playland on Thursday, June 20th for the Toy Industry Foundation’s (TIF) 6th annual toy giveaway event for children battling cancer. But this year’s safari-themed Evening of Play cannot happen without donations and support from the toy industry.

At the start of each summer, TIF provides this special toy giveaway, fun games and activities, and dinner (courtesy of Fairway Market) for the families at the Ronald McDonald House, which offers programs to support children undergoing treatment for childhood cancers. The Evening of Play is the industry’s way of giving back to these families whose young ones are facing emotional and physical difficulties.

To give every child at the event a toy and a reason to smile, TIF is soliciting 100 brand new safari-themed toys and games from toy manufacturers, retailers, licensors and distributors. Plush, puzzles, books and craft activities are welcome, and all product donations are tax deductible.

“This special evening brings the gift of lighthearted play to children and their families who face grave issues day in and day out,” said Marisa Medina, foundation manager for TIF. “The chance to revel in a new toy and have some carefree fun with friends, family and TIF staff truly makes a difference in these children’s lives.” [See pictures of last year’s fun and games.]

To donate safari-themed product, email TIF or fill out a product donation form and return it by fax (212-675-1328) by June 5th. For further questions, please call (646.520.4878). TIF will recognize donor companies on the TIF website, in the Annual Report and in the Toy of the Year Awards Tribute Book.

Toys and games of all kinds are welcome 365 days a year and can be contributed to TIF’s Toy Bank, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.
