“Kids India”: Gateway to the Growing Indian Toy Market

July 22, 2013 | Home to more than a billion people, India has the second largest population in the world, a growing middle class, a steadily developing retail landscape and a toy market that is expected to reach US $2.3 billion by 2015. With this in mind, Spielwarenmesse eG (Nuremberg Toy Fair) in cooperation with the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC) created the first-ever Kids India, a global trade show for companies looking to tap into India’s rapidly developing economy.

Taking place from October 24-26, 2013 at the Bombay Convention and Exhibition Center in Mumbai, Kids India will showcase toys and games, baby articles, licensed products, sports equipment, and leisure and hobby products from both local and international exhibitors.

Toy Industry Association (TIA) members who would like to take advantage of this opportunity are encouraged to participate in the show’s World of Toys Pavilion, which will exclusively feature goods from small- and medium-sized companies looking to enter the expanding Indian marketplace. Association members who exhibit at the fair will be provided with a sign bearing the TIA logo to showcase at their booths.

“Research has shown that India’s consumers are increasingly looking to purchase high-quality toys and games for their children, and Indian retailers on the hunt for unique, top-rate products will take note of companies exhibiting under the U.S. / TIA banner,” said Marian Bossard, TIA vice president of meetings and events.

U.S. toy companies that would like to exhibit at the show may contact the U.S. representative for the World of Toys Pavilion, Jerry Kallman (Kallman Associates).  TIA members will be notified via direct email as educational, networking and other opportunities tailored to U.S. toy companies at the show are announced.
