“Think Asia, Think Hong Kong” Conferences to Take Place in NYC, LA this June

March 21, 2013 | The Hong Kong Trade Development Council will hold its first “Think Asia, Think Hong Kong” conferences in the U.S. this spring to foster business-building and networking opportunities between American and Hong Kong companies. The first symposium will be held in New York City on June 11, followed by a Los Angeles conference on June 14.

As Asia’s hub for international trade and finance with strong trading ties to the U.S. and mainland China, Hong Kong offers a gateway to Chinese and other Asian markets for American toy manufacturers and other industry professionals.

“The Toy Industry Association (TIA) is proud to support ‘Think Asia, Think Hong Kong,’” said TIA President Carter Keithley. “The topics to be addressed at this event will be an important part of ongoing efforts to nurture relationships between the U.S. and Hong Kong toy industries.”

The conferences will bring together corporate leaders, small and medium-sized enterprises, service providers, economists and academics together to discuss developments, trends and new business opportunities. The Honorable CY Leung, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, will deliver a symposium in New York on Chinese enterprises and Hong Kong services available to U.S. companies; the agenda also includes break-out meetings with Hong Kong and Chinese mainland delegates, as well as thematic business seminars on Chinese outbound investments and exports to Asia, punctuated by a networking luncheon.

The U.S. is Hong Kong’s second largest trading partner and one of its primary sources of foreign direct investment. U.S. exports to Hong Kong have tripled over the past decade, growing 37% to $36 billion between 2010 and 2012 alone.

The New York event will be held at the Hilton New York, while the JW Marriott Los Angeles LA Live Hotel will host the L.A. event. Free registration for both conferences is now open; for more information, contact the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (212.838-8688).
