2014 Toy Fair Credit Meeting Expands Participation
February 25, 2014 | Participation in the Toy Industry Association’s (TIA) 2014 Toy Fair Credit Meeting — an exclusive forum for TIA member manufacturers to gain valuable trade information and insights — grew significantly this year, marking a 63% increase in attendance over last year.
More than 50 credit, finance and operations professionals from 36 TIA member manufacturing companies came together to share knowledge from across the industry during the day-long event, which was held on February 18, 2014 at the Marriot Marquis Times Square hotel.
The agenda featured professional workshops tailored to assist credit managers overcome daily challenges in the current credit and collection environment, and provide senior finance and operations managers with insights into areas of business beyond credit. The workshops proved extremely popular among participants: attendance for the annual Beyond Credit workshop alone more than doubled in size this year.
The meeting also included a review and discussion of key accounts, as well as presentations from industry experts on a variety of industry issues. Boyd Evert, CEO of Harvest Revenue Group, offered ideas on how to handle post audit claims; Jason Torf, Esq., a partner at Horwood Marcus & Berk, spoke about ways to reduce exposure to a distressed customer; and Dennis Cantalupo, COO at Creditntell.com, presented credit risk analyses for key accounts.
Attendees were invited to network over lunch with Toys ‘R’ Us guests Bill Jacobs, director of merchandise payables, and Alan Pochter, director of credit allowances and RGD.
