Kids India 2014 Announces Special Educational Program Open to TIA & CTA Members
August 3, 2014 | Toy Industry Association (TIA) and Canadian Toy Association (CTA) member companies with an interest in the Indian toy market are invited and encouraged to participate in a special program for overseas visitors at the second annual Kids India, slated to take place September 18-20, 2014 at the Bombay Convention and Exhibition Center in Mumbai.
Hosted by Kids India organizers Spielwarenmesse eG (Nuremberg Toy Fair) in cooperation with the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC), the three-day “fact-finding” trip will provide toymakers with a view inside India’s rapidly developing economy and emergent retail landscape.
The program will kick off on Thursday, September 18th, when visiting toy companies will connect with representatives of Spielwarenmesse eG and receive a tour around the Kids India fair, before taking part in the fair’s workshop program. That evening, a dinner reception will be held at the Westin Hotel.
On Friday, September 19th, participants will visit various Mumbai-based toy stores, including the world-renowned Hamleys toy shop, and receive pertinent information about the Indian toy market, including consumer demographics and opportunities for market entry. That evening, a dinner will be held at the Leela Hotel. The program will conclude on Saturday, September 20th with a sightseeing tour of Mumbai.
“With the second largest population in the world, India is home to a growing number of middle class consumers looking to purchase high-quality toys and games,” said Marian Bossard, TIA vice president of meetings and events. “The Kids India expo and fact-finding trip present a huge opportunity for TIA and CTA members looking to break new ground in India or expand their current sales operations in the region.”
Registration for the fact-finding program is 400 EUR per person; the cost covers all activities, including bus transportation to and from the Westin Hotel. Attendees are encouraged to book hotel accommodations at the Westin; details about reduced hotel / flight rates and travel visas to India are available online.

Launched in 2013 by Spielwarenmesse eG and IGCC, Kids India is a global trade show that displays toys and games, baby articles, licensed products, sports equipment, and leisure and hobby products from India-based manufacturers; international exhibitors are also welcome to display their goods in a special World of Toys pavilion, which exclusively features products from small- and medium-sized companies looking to enter the budding Indian marketplace.
Companies do not need to exhibit at Kids India in order to participate in the fact-finding trip.
