PlayCon 2014: Google/YouTube, Amazon and Crowdfunding Session Details Announced
April 22, 2014 | The Toy Industry Association (TIA) has announced that leading digital experts from Google/YouTube, Amazon, RocketHub and Tongal will present their insights on connecting with 21st century kids and moms, crowdsourcing and crowdfunding at PlayCon, TIA’s International Conference of Play Professionals.
Scheduled to take place from May 7-9, 2014 at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona, the annual industry educational and networking event will bring together play professionals from companies of all sizes for three days of presentations covering a range of topics, including toy industry and digital innovation, global licensing trends and consumer purchasing habits. - In “Growing Up Digital: Creating, Consuming, Connecting,” Katie Rottier, head of U.S. industry, sports & toys at Google/YouTube, will draw on her professional experience as a marketer and digital strategist to provide tips and tactics for brands wishing to engage with kids and moms online. Having worked with brands such as LEGO, Mattel, Hasbro, Levi’s, Nike, Adidas and The North Face, Rottier has mapped out integrated campaigns, ranging from direct response to custom branded entertainment programs across video, mobile and search platforms. She will share how technology and devices make it easier for brands to reach the right audience at the moments that matter.
- “Amazon – Key Customer, Marketing Partner, Platform for Customer Engagement, or All Three,” will be presented by Eva Lorenz, category leader for Amazon’s Toys & Games store. Lorenz will discuss how companies can maximize their success with Amazon by leveraging the online retailer’s marketing, customer engagement, and brand-building know-how.
- In “Get Out of the Box – Get Into the Crowd!” Brian Meece, CEO of RocketHub and Caleb Light-Wills, SVP of Product at Tongal, will provide an in-depth look at crowdsourcing and crowdfunding – and share the differences between the two. Meece will discuss how the RocketHub crowdfunding platform can raise enough money to take a project from concept to consumer; while Light-Wills will explore the world of crowdsourcing – a resourceful method for companies of all sizes looking to leverage customer knowledge and loyalty or generate marketing for a particular brand.
