Public Relations Tips, Tools and Resources for Toy Fair Exhibitors 

Registration Now Open for TIA’s Annual Product Preview (Feb. 15)

January 11, 2014 | The Toy Industry Association’s (TIA) Toy Fair Public Relations (TF PR) Team offers a variety of PR and promotional resources to help Toy Fair exhibitors get noticed by the 1,000 global media representatives who annually flock to the show to report on the hottest trends and innovations in toys and youth entertainment. 
  • Annual Product Preview on February 15th (appointments are being scheduled now)
    The annual product preview with members of the Toy Fair PR team will take place on Saturday, February 15th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Javits Center in the Press Room. Information gathered by the team during these 15-minute appointments will be used to inform media about products and companies at the show; images of key drivers will also be featured in a “new product showcase” video loop that will play in the Press Center throughout Toy Fair. 

    Because a limited number of appointments are available, TIA members are given first preference during scheduling. Non-member exhibitors will be seen on an as-available basis. To make an appointment, please contact Toy Fair Product Preview Coordinator Dan Fernandez
  • Trend Database Product Information Submission (Due February 7)
    Every Toy Fair exhibitor is invited to submit up to three (3) products for inclusion in the master Toy Fair trend database that is used by the TIA PR team to educate media on new product and trends on display at the show. All product information must be submitted online as soon as possible but no later than Friday, February 7.  Because product data must be submitted in full and cannot be changed once inputted, exhibitors are strongly encouraged to complete the “Product Data Preview Sheet” before completing the online form. 

  • Happenings on the Show Floor (Due February 7)
    Any special event hosted by an exhibitor at their booth or elsewhere on the show floor may be added to the public calendar of show floor events. Special events may include a celebrity appearance, press conference, cocktail party, book signing, and more. Information provided will be listed on the official Show Happenings page of the Toy Fair website, posted in the press room for maximum media exposure, and streamed on Toy Fair Mobile (for events submitted before Feb. 1, 2014).

  • Toy Fair’s Online Press Room
    Toy Fair’s Online Press Room is an important tool that allows exhibitors to post their company profiles, press releases, and other information for members of the media to browse. All exhibitors receive a complimentary “virtual” news page that includes a 50-word company backgrounder and logo; list of PR contacts with mobile numbers; and a link to the exhibitor’s website. Additional services, ranging from posting announcements to wire service distributions, are available for an additional fee.  For more information, contact

  • Free Online and Social Media Tools 
    A webinar recording of “Toy Fair PR Bootcamp: Tips for Developing Your Toy Fair 2014 Media and Promotions Strategies” is available online for those who were unable to participate live. This in-depth seminar reviews resources, planning tools, and tips from veteran exhibitors and media who have covered the show in the past.

    Leading up to and during the February show, there will be a lot of activity on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Flickr, and the Toy Fair NY and Toy Industry Association websites. Companies are encouraged to join the conversation by using hashtags #TF14 or #TFNY across all social media. Tagged content will also stream to the Online Press Room

    The TIA PR team has enlisted the help of seasoned bloggers who have been to Toy Fair to provide their tips on covering the show. Feel free to share these with blogger media contacts to help them navigate Toy Fair.
