REMINDER: Register to Participate in TIA’s 7th Annual Washington, DC Fly-In

Free Hotel Offer for First-Time Participants

July 28, 2014 | Toy Industry Association (TIA) members from toy companies of all sizes are invited to meet with key legislators, regulators and government officials this fall during TIA’s 7th Annual Washington, DC Fly-In, taking place in the nation’s capital on September 16-18, 2014. This event is free to attend and open to all TIA members; online registration is now open.

Fly-In participants will help raise awareness on Capitol Hill about the direct impact that proposed laws and regulations would have on their companies, employees, customers and the toy industry at large – such as duplicative chemical regulations and burdensome testing requirements. The Fly-In is also an important opportunity for the industry to remind government leaders of the vital role that toy companies play in supporting national and local economies and in protecting the safety of children at play.

Schedule of Events

The 2014 Fly-In will begin on the evening of Tuesday, September 16th with a “United We Play”-themed opening reception on Capitol Hill, hosted by TIA and the Toy Industry Foundation (TIF). During the evening, the hosts will honor five Members of Congress with a total donation of 2,500 toys to benefit children’s charities within their home districts, courtesy of TIF’s Toy Bank.

On Wednesday, September 17th, participants will spend a full day on Capitol Hill meeting with Members of Congress and hearing from guest speakers; the day will conclude at the Newseum with a special cocktail reception and dinner, featuring a keynote address.  The Fly-In will wrap up on Thursday, September 18th with an important certificate of compliance workshop at the Consumer Product Safety Commission open to all impacted industries.

View the full draft agenda online; special guest and keynote speakers will be announced in the coming weeks. Association staff will schedule and plan all meetings and event logistics / transportation.

Hotel Accommodations + Special Offer

The Mandarin Oriental Hotel in downtown DC will serve as the host property for the event; a negotiated room rate of $249 is available through August 15, 2014. Rooms may be reserved online or by phone (202.554.8588). Because September is a busy time in D.C., participants are encouraged to make their hotel reservations early while accommodations at the Mandarin are still available.

To encourage expanded participation, TIA will reimburse the cost of two nights stay at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel for the initial 10 first-time attendees who register, including companies that refer first-time registrants.
