Registration, Educational Sessions & More Announced for Fall Toy Preview 2014

July 29, 2014 | This October, global toy buyers from mass, long lead and high-volume specialty retail outlets will be in Dallas, Texas to preview innovative new toys and games for holiday 2015, negotiate customized products and exclusive lines, and attend educational seminars and special events at the Toy Industry Association’s (TIA) annual Fall Toy Preview. Online registration is now open for retailers and trade guests.

Taking place October 7-9 at the Dallas Market Center, Fall Toy Preview 2014 will feature several enhancements to provide added value for toy companies, retailers, importers, licensors and other industry stakeholders who have come to rely on the show to broker in-person business deals months in advance of in-store delivery.

As previously reported, pre-set appointments will no longer be a requirement at Fall Toy Preview and many exhibitor booths will either be open or offer a combination of private meeting space with open display areas, allowing buyers to “window shop.” Additionally, while the marketplace was previously open only to long-lead or mass retail outlets (and only companies that sold product to mass were allowed to exhibit), this year, high-volume specialty buyers are invited to attend the marketplace and all companies with product ready for holiday 2015 are invited to exhibit.

“Fall Toy Preview has ‘turned over a new leaf’ to include several practical enhancements that will allow retailers to discover exciting new brands, trends and suppliers, and enable exhibitors to forge new buyer connections,” said Marian Bossard, TIA vice president of meetings and events. “From drop-in meeting opportunities and visible product displays, to brand new educational programming, this year’s show will bring Q4 planning to a whole new level!”

Business deals and trend-spotting will be met with plenty of educational and networking events held on-site at the Dallas Market Center, summarized below:

  • On Monday, October 6th, Women in Toys (WIT) will collaborate with Walmart to host an afternoon of panel discussions, “speed networking” and pitch sessions that will inform manufacturers, inventors and entrepreneurs about selling to Walmart. Panel presentations will be open to all registered Fall Toy Preview attendees; speed networking and targeted pitch sessions providing women-owned suppliers with the opportunity to present directly to Walmart will be open to WIT members only. The day will conclude with a WIT-hosted cocktail party, open to all Fall Toy Preview attendees and WIT members.

  • On Tuesday, October 7th, TIA will host its annual Opening Night Party to benefit the philanthropic activities of the Toy Industry Foundation. Official Fall Toy Preview exhibitors will receive two complimentary tickets to the reception; additional tickets may be purchased for $25 each when registering for the show. The Opening Night Party will be sponsored by The Beatrix Girls / PopStar Club, Inc.

  • On the morning of Wednesday, October 8th, Doug Van Andel, executive creative director at Saatchi & Saatchi X, will deliver a keynote address open to all attendees. During his talk, Van Andel will provide insight into how retail activities can drive fourth quarter sales.

To date, influential buyers from hundreds of top retailers have already registered to attend Fall Toy Preview 2014, including Walmart Stores, Amazon.com, Toys“R”Us, AAFES, Nordstrom, 7-Eleven, Michael’s, Hobby Lobby Stores and HSN.

Nearly 250 toy companies have so far contracted to exhibit at the show, including Learning Resources, Nowstalgic Toys, Oregon Scientific, ThinkFun, Wonder Forge, VTech and Razor.
