SAVE THE DATE: TIA’s 7th Annual DC Fly-In to be held September 16-18
April 29, 2013 | The Toy Industry Association (TIA) announced today that its 7th Annual Washington, DC Fly-In will be held on September 16-18, 2014. Representatives of toy companies from across the nation are invited to come together in the Washington to meet and speak directly with members of Congress and leaders of key regulatory agencies.
“The Fly-In brings TIA’s members together with leaders of government for face-to-face conversations about the issues that are important to toy businesses,” explained Ed Desmond, TIA’s executive vice president of external affairs. “The Fly-In has become an incredibly important component of TIA’s advocacy program. It’s one of the best forums we can offer our members to get directly involved in the legislative process on important issues like asking for relief from unnecessary third-party testing burdens and redundant chemical regulations … calling for federal preemption on chemical reform … and referencing what our businesses are already doing to address environmental issues, workplace protections, online privacy, and all the other important steps we are taking to keep kids safe.”
TIA members of all sizes are invited to participate. The program will begin with a Congressional Reception on the evening of the 16th; a complete draft agenda, as well as announcements of special guest attendees and speakers will be available in the coming weeks.
“The Fly-In in September 2013 provided positive results on our priority issues,” said Desmond, “and we are striving to increase participation this year as we plan for another successful event.”
The event host hotel is the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in downtown Washington, conveniently located near Capitol Hill. A negotiated room rate of $249 is available through August 25, 2014; reserve your room online or by phone (202.554.8588). September is a busy time in D.C., and participants are encouraged to make their hotel reservations early while accommodations at the Mandarin are still available.
