Save the Date – Beyond the Ports: Customs and Border Protection Enforcement (Webinar)
June 3, 2014 | The Toy Industry Association (TIA) announced today that it will host a webinar on Thursday, June 26th to provide toy industry stakeholders with a behind-the-scenes view of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) enforcement and trade facilitation, and provide insight into how to streamline the importation of products during the peak shipping season leading up to holiday 2014.
Beyond the Ports: Customs and Border Protection Enforcement will take place from 3 to 4 p.m. (Eastern); registration is now open and is free for TIA members and $49 for non-members. This webinar is recommended for staff responsible for logistics, trade and safety or quality compliance, as well as others who need to know more about how CBP and U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) staff are targeting products for inspection at U.S. ports.
During the session, Ed Ryan, chief of import safety and international trade specialist for CBP's Commercial Targeting and Analysis Center, will discuss CBP’s targeting practices, including a description of what CBP looks for when screening toy imports – and what they often find. The webinar will go into detail about what companies can do if their products are stopped during importation.
A representative from CPSC has also been invited to speak about how the CPSC and CBP work together to target potentially noncompliant products.
Additional details about the session, including registration information, are available on the Education page of the TIA website.
Questions from members and industry stakeholders may be submitted in advance; to the extent possible, answers to these questions will be discussed during the presentation. As with other TIA webinars, the session will be recorded and available post-event for those who are unable to participate live.
