Toy Industry Association and the Manufacturing Community Show Commitment to Unite America Post-Election

More Than 1,100 Manufacturing and Business Leaders Sign Letter to President-Elect Pledging Respect and Cooperation

New York, NY | November 9, 2016 – Following the election of Donald Trump as the next president of the United States, Toy Industry Association (TIA) President & CEO Steve Pasierb joined National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) President and CEO Jay Timmons and more than 1,100 other business leaders from across the United States in pledging to help bring the country back together after a divisive election.

“In the business of toys, our focus is always on the lives of children, the well-being of families and how the developmental benefits of childhood play help to build bright futures,” stated TIA President & CEO Steve Pasierb. “As our nation moves forward, TIA and our 950+ member companies are committed to working positively, as we always have, with the new administration, members of Congress and federal agency leaders. The toy industry’s annual total economic impact in the U.S. is calculated at $77.35 billion and growing. From the young lives we touch every day, to the sales, wages, and tax revenue generated by the toy community, we are proud of the important role our members play in building a strong nation.”

In a letter sent to President-elect Trump, Pasierb and other leaders expressed an urgent need to communicate and work productively with the new administration and 115th Congress on key issues to reach the full economic potential of our nation.

“Manufacturing and business leaders from across the country have pledged to rebuild trust in our democratic and economic institutions so that we can ensure our exceptional country offers abundant opportunity to all,” stated NAM President and CEO Jay Timmons.

Pasierb added: “In the coming months, TIA plans to educate newly-elected members of Congress on industry priorities such as implementation of the recently passed chemical reform legislation, streamlining regulatory burdens, access to international markets, and general policies that help small businesses.”

Signatures for the letter were gathered over a period of nearly two weeks before the results of the election were known. To view the letter, click here.
