Spring Toy Drive Aims to Double TIF's Impact in 2016

Toys Collected at TTPM Spring Showcase to Reach Nearly 500 Kids in Need

TTPM Showcase 2016May 3, 2016 | The Toy Industry Foundation’s (TIF) signature Toy Bank program recently launched its Spring Toy Drive as part of its initiative to provide brand new toys to 2 million deserving children in 2016, which would double last year’s donations. The most recent collection was in New York, NY, where TIF was the official charity of aNb Media’s annual TTPM Spring Showcase on April 28th.

Following the showcase, during which the TTPM editorial team displayed this summer’s hottest children’s products, approximately 500 brand new toys valued at nearly $10,000 were donated to TIF’s Toy Bank. The toys will be distributed locally in New York City to the Lighthouse Outreach Ministries in Astoria and benefits all types of individuals, including low-income families residing in the four housing projects in Astoria and Long Island City. 

“Every toy donated helps one more child in need,” said TIF program manager Elizabeth Max. “We were honored to be the TTPM Spring Showcase’s official charity, and have the deepest appreciation for the companies who participated in this year’s collection. Thank you, toy industry.”

Toys for children of military families are especially needed for this year’s Spring Toy Drive. The next fun-filled toy distribution event will be held June 10th at Ventura County Naval Base in Ventura, California, where 1,000 children of Navy families will be served.  Toys are needed for this event by May 12th. All other 2016 toy donations for TIF’s military partnership must be sent to a shipping facility in Forest Park, GA, and shipping is required.
