Toy Industry Foundation Receives 20,000 Dolls from Madame Alexander to Comfort Children in Need

Nearly $600,000 in Customizable Dolls to Benefit Impoverished and Underserved Kids in CA, OR, WY, & CO

NEW YORK, NY | July 26, 2016 – Children who are impoverished, underserved or otherwise in need will receive brand-new Madame Alexander dolls this summer, thanks to the toy company’s generous donation of 20,000 customizable doll sets during the Toy Industry Foundation’s (TIF) 2016 Summer Toy Drive.

More than half a million dollars in Build-a-Doll Fashion Starter Sets and 18” Build-a-Doll Wigs – which allow kids to customize and design their very own fashion dolls – were donated by Madame Alexander to TIF’s Toy Bank.

“The Toy Industry Foundation is pleased to make play possible for children in need with Madame Alexander by our side,” said Jean Butler, Executive Director of TIF.  “Their generous contribution will bring the magic of play to children who need it the most, whether they have no toys to call their own or have been abandoned or abused. Madame Alexander is a longtime supporter of The Toy Bank and we are thankful for their continued support!”

The dolls are being delivered to six different children’s charities across four states: Shelter Partnership, Jordan Outreach and On Your Feet (California); Friends of the Jefferson Public Library (Oregon); Joshua’s Storehouse (Wyoming); and Dolls for Daughters (Colorado). These playthings will put smiles on the faces of children who are living through or recovering from extraordinarily difficult circumstances, including poverty and domestic abuse.

"We feel so honored to be partnering with the Toy Industry Foundation, an organization that improves the lives of countless children in need through the gift of play," said Howard Kahn, Executive Chairman of Kahn Lucas Lancaster Inc./Dollie & Me/Madame Alexander Doll Company. “With this donation of Build-a-Doll Fashion Starter Sets and Wigs, we aim to provide children with tools to unleash their creativity and imaginative thinking, both critical components of learning."

The Toy Bank is generously stocked by manufacturers, retailers and distributors throughout the year. Working with distribution partner K.I.D.S./Fashion Delivers, TIF distributes the toys to foster kids who have nothing of their own, children living on U.S. military bases, and to children served by The Toy Bank’s network of more 1,000 charities across the nation and around the globe. The Toy Industry Foundation (TIF) is a non-profit organization whose mission it is to bring the magic of play to children in need. While other organizations provide food, shelter and support services to children and their families, TIF sees to it that these children have toys and opportunities to play in an attempt to restore both fun and a sense of normalcy to their lives. To date, TIF’s signature program, The Toy Bank, has provided more than $128 million in toys to 19 million children in need around the globe, thanks to its generous toy donors.
