TIA to Host Annual General Meeting at Toy Fair

January 20, 2017 | The Toy Industry Association (TIA) has announced that its Annual General Meeting will convene at 8 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

Held on-site at the North American International Toy Fair in Room 1E09, the one-hour meeting will include a review of TIA’s activities, fiscal performance, and forward direction, as well as the election of industry representatives to the TIA Board of Directors. The meeting is free and open to both member and non-member industry stakeholders. A light breakfast will be served.

The following members of the TIA Board of Directors have been advanced by the Nominating Committee for re-election to subsequent terms; the election will occur during the Annual General Meeting:

  • Richard Barry, Global Chief Merchandising Officer, Toys“R”Us, Inc. (third term)
  • Howard Kahn, Chairman, Madame Alexander/CEO, Kahn Lucas, Kahn Lucas Lancaster, Inc./Dollie & Me/Madame Alexander Doll Company (second term)
  • Bruce Raiffe, President, Gund (a division of Enesco, LLC) (second term)
  • Manuel Torres, EVP, Worldwide Consumer Products, NBC Universal (third term).

A member of the TIA Board may serve up to three consecutive two-year terms. There are currently no new board members to be elected.

Following the meeting, TIA will host its “Toy Safety & Compliance Update” from 9:30 a.m. until noon. The session is also free and open to all Toy Fair attendees, and will cover important changes in state, federal, and international toy safety requirements and introduce emerging issues under consideration by legislators around the globe.
