The Genius of Play’s First “Play Talk” Video Garners Hundreds of Comments on Social Media

July 18, 2017 | Parents and caregivers shared their opinions on social media whether children should be allowed to engage in unsupervised play following The Genius of Play’s launch of a short video titled “Unsupervised Play” on  Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.

The video is the first in The Genius of Play’s new “Play Talk” series, featuring real parents’ sentiments on a variety of play-related issues.

“In just the first week, the video received more than 300 Facebook comments showing a wide variety of opinions,” says Anna Yudina, The Toy Association’s director of marketing initiatives. “The lively and insightful conversation means parents are engaged, which was our key objective in creating this particular series. We look forward to further building the dialogue as we share additional videos on important topics related to play.”

Bloggers also took to social media to comment on the important topic. Courtney Spena, author of A+ Life blog, posed a question in a June 30 Instagram post that asked fans if they allow their children to play unsupervised.  The post has generated more than 50 comments.

The toy community is encouraged to share the “Play Talk” videos with online fans and followers to spark conversation.  Simply share the videos directly from social media or email Jackie Retzer to receive the video files for use in your own posts.
