California Proposition 65: New Warning & Labeling Requirements Effective Aug. 30
August 28, 2018 | The Toy Association is reminding industry stakeholders that new chemical labeling requirements under California’s Proposition 65 will go into effect on Thursday, August 30.
Prop 65 requires businesses to provide warnings to California residents about significant exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. California’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment has made changes to the requirements for warning labels, including “safe harbor” language, and methods for warnings.
The Toy Association recently held a webinar that provided toy companies with an overview of changes and updates to California’s chemical warning and labeling requirements. Toy Association members can download a recording of the webinar online.
Members with questions on this matter may contact Al Kaufman, senior vice president of technical affairs at The Toy Association, or Jennifer Gibbons, vice president of state government affairs at The Toy Association.
