Enforcement Delay Announced for Ontario’s Stuffed Articles Regulation

April 24, 2018 | The Toy Association has learned that the enforcement date has been delayed for changes to the Upholstered and Stuffed Articles regulation (Ontario Regulation 218/01) in Ontario, Canada.

Initially targeted for July 1, 2018, the modernized regulation – subject to government approval – will come into effect at a future date, according to the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services. Until then, Ontario’s existing Upholstered and Stuffed Articles regulation remains in effect and all manufacturers and retailers must comply with the current regulation for registration and labeling until further notice.

Stakeholders will be kept informed about any government decision on the regulation, including if and when the changes will come into force. Questions from members of The Toy Association may be directed to Alan Kaufman, senior vice president of technical affairs.
