Hard Copy of STEM/STEAM Report Mailed to Toy Association Members

June 21, 2019 | Toy Association members will be receiving a hard copy in the mail of the Association’s latest report, “STEM/STEAM Formula for Success,” over the next week.

“The Toy Association’s report is a free resource for our members, providing research-based guidelines for developing and marketing STEM/STEAM toys,” said Ken Seiter, executive vice president of marketing communications at The Toy Association. “Toymakers looking for insight into how they can create engaging STEM/STEAM products that enhance kids’ learning and provide support to parents looking to foster these skills will find the report’s insights extremely valuable.”

The report provides toy companies with:

  • 14 unifying characteristics of STEM/STEAM toys, based on in-depth interviews with toy experts;
  • Insights from a survey of 2,000 parents who shared their perspectives on STEM/STEAM careers and toys as they relate to their children;
  • Examples of enriching STEM/STEAM toys garnered from input from more than 100 Toy Association member companies; and
  • A worksheet that can be used as a framework when evaluating toys and games.

“STEM/STEAM Formula for Success” complements The Toy Association’s 2018 report, “Decoding STEM/STEAM,” which explored the meaning and history of STEM/STEAM education, highlighted challenges, stigmas, and myths related to STEM/STEAM learning, and defined the role of toys in STEAM/STEAM education. The full reports are available at ToyAssociation.org/ReadingRoom.
