Help Defeat Harmful Legislation in NY State

May 29, 2019 | The Toy Association is urging the toy community to help defeat New York’s AB6296/S501B – state legislation that creates a broad chemical disclosure program for children’s products and bans products containing chemicals arbitrarily selected as “dangerous.”

Simply fill out this sample letter asking Governor Andrew Cuomo to veto the bill and send it to Matthew Lenz, The Toy Association’s director of state government affairs, by June 7. The Toy Association will hand-deliver all letters to the governor’s office at the appropriate time.

“If this legislation becomes law, many companies may not be able to continue offering products for sale in New York state because of the undue cost and the unfeasibility of the requirements,” stated Lenz. “We are urging the entire toy community to help us communicate the negative impact of this legislation and to highlight how toy companies perform rigorous safety assessments of their products – which are already subject to chemical regulation at the federal level.”

As The Toy Association continues to advocate on this critical issue, members will be kept apprised of developments. Members with questions may contact The Toy Association’s Matthew Lenz.
