Toy Fair New York Exhibitors Donate Tens of Thousands of Playthings for Kids in Need

March 11, 2019 | Thousands of U.S. children suffering from adversity will soon have brand-new toys to call their own thanks to generous Toy Fair New York exhibitors. Roughly 300 toy companies donated nearly 60,000 new playthings, valued at over half a million dollars, to The Toy Foundation’s (TTF) Toy Bank.

At the close of Toy Fair, dozens of volunteers swept the aisles of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City to collect action figures, outdoor toys, ride-ons, dolls, board games, plush, and more that will be sent to a variety of Toy Bank charities in the tri-state area. Kids who are fighting abuse, poverty, homelessness, illness, and other forms of adversity, as well as foster children across the country, will receive toys and games to call their very own from the Toy Fair collection.

“Every child deserves the chance to feel the joy and wonderment of play,” said Elizabeth Max, senior foundation manager at The Toy Foundation. “With the help of kind-hearted donors at Toy Fair, this year we exceeded our collection goal of 50,000 toys and games – which means so many more children will benefit from the gift of a brand-new toy. Thank you to all the new and returning companies that helped us. We could not have done it without you.”

Toy Fair is the Toy Bank’s largest annual toy collection, but TTF strives all year to serve millions of children in need with the help of industry-wide toy donations, financial contributions, and volunteer efforts. Companies are encouraged to participate in the Foundation’s Spring Toy Drive, taking place now through the end of May. To donate, contact Elizabeth Max.

Since 2003, The Toy Foundation has provided nearly $225 million in brand-new toys to over 25 million deserving children through its signature program, The Toy Bank. To learn more about The Toy Foundation and its partners visit ToyFoundation.org.
