genius-of-play-learning-at-homeMarch 20, 2020 │ As a go-to online destination for play ideas, The Genius of Play has announced that it is offering even more educational resources, play tips, and expert advice to help kids play and learn at home while schools and daycares are closed due to COVID-19.

“The Genius of Play’s latest initiatives aim to help parents navigate the current crisis, by ensuring that toys and play are a source of emotional support and learning opportunities,” said Anna Yudina, senior director of marketing initiatives at The Toy Association. “It is our hope that these resources helps alleviate some of the stress felt by families during this tumultuous time.”

The Genius of Play has launched a new dedicated Learning At Home resource page offering virtual tools and play ideas to keep kids engaged as parents work from home. The list includes free activities, such as downloadable coloring pages, active gaming, Facebook Live playdates with toymakers, and live streams from kids’ favorite parks and zoos across the country, as well as virtual classes that range from yoga to history and science lessons. In addition, it also features tips to extend the onscreen learning off-screen with additional hands-on play ideas.

The Genius of Play is also tapping into its own pool of hundreds of play ideas to highlight activities that can be done by single families as opposed to larger groups. All these resources for play and learning, both internal and external, are being communicated daily across The Genius of Play’s Facebook and Instagram channels (#thegeniusofplay) and through newsletters for parents and teachers. Member companies are encouraged to share the resources and experiences they’re creating and using by emailing them to info@thegeniusofplay.org to be added to the lineup.

Additionally, The Genius of Play experts are helping create new pieces of content that address the most critical needs we’re hearing from parents, including play tips to help kids manage stress and cope with social distancing and more educational play ideas for at-home learning.

Continue to stay tuned to The Genius of Play’s social channels and website in the coming weeks for more new content, including play ideas, video tutorials, Q&As with experts, and a new PSA campaign that will highlight the importance of playing together as a family.
