Toys“R”Us Canada Joins the Canadian Toy Association, Chief Merchant Sean Williams Appointed to Board of Directors

October 28, 2020 | The Canadian Toy Association (CTA) is pleased to announce that Toys“R”Us Canada has joined the Association’s growing number of retail members. In addition to joining the Association, the CTA welcomes Toys“R”Us Chief Merchant, Sean Williams as a new Director on the Association’s Board.

“We welcome Sean and look forward to the expertise he brings to our discussions about the future of the toy industry,” said Graeme Bissett, Chair of the Canadian Toy Association. “With a shared commitment to supporting our communities and the betterment of the toy industry, Toys“R”Us is a natural fit for the Canadian Toy Association family.”

As Canada’s leading specialty toy retailer, Toys“R”Us offers the broadest selection of must-have toys, bringing national brands, exclusive products, and unique partnerships to over 80 stores across Canada and online. As the ultimate destination for toys, Toys“R”Us has thrived through the COVID-19 pandemic by constantly innovating to better support and serve Canadian families. For example, in partnership with Autism Speaks Canada, the company launched Stay-at-Home Play Packs, and donated Babies“R”Us products and food items to local charities that support parents in need. When having a mask on-hand became the new normal, Toys“R”Us launched exclusive brand Kid CareTM, a collection of stylish and convenient masks and fanny packs designed to keep little ones covered on the go.

For more than 40 years, Canadian Toy Association members have enjoyed a wide range of benefits including programs, events, services, and tools to bring them greater prosperity in the marketplace.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the CTA created an online resource and communications platform to help businesses and retailers navigate the pandemic. The Association continues to make headway on ongoing issues affecting the toy community. The Association is affiliated with the Toy Association in the US and is helping toy sellers and buyers forge ahead via Toy Fair Everywhere, the toy community’s only virtual marketplace.

“As an Association that is committed to fostering growth and prosperity for all members, helping retailers, manufacturers, and others in the toy community succeed and grow in a changing global toy market is our No. 1 priority,” added Graeme Bissett.
