Thomas Osimitz has over thirty years of experience in toxicology. He is founder and Principal of Science Strategies, LLC, a consulting firm that helps companies of all sizes to negotiate the turbulent intersection of science, policy, and product development. He is also cofounder of SciVera, LLC, a software-as-a-service company that enables rapid hazard and risk assessment of chemicals, materials, and products. Prior to founding Science Strategies in 2002, he was Vice-President for Global Safety Assessment/Regulatory Affairs and Sustainable Product Innovation for S.C. Johnson and Son.

Thomas has done extensive work in developmental neurotoxicology, endocrine toxicology, and risk assessment, experience that he brings to bear on chemical assessments and the design of chemical management strategies. He is leading ongoing research programs in endocrine disruption, the relevance of rodent carcinogens to humans, and the use of physiologically based pharmacokinetic models to examine the possible differences in the sensitivity of adults and children to neurotoxic chemicals.

Thomas has a special passion for enhancing collaboration and productivity between chemists and toxicologists with the goal of designing safer chemicals (a key part of alternative assessments) and has forged several such interactions.

He has a B.S. in Biology from The University of Minnesota, and a Ph.D. in Toxicology from The University of Michigan.  He is certified in Toxicology by the American Board of Toxicology and is certified as a European Registered Toxicologist by the International Union of Toxicology (IUTOX).
