Guidance on Toy
Safety
Safety in toys continues to be an important issue that the industry
faces on a daily basis. TIA works diligently to maintain the
industry’s credibility and reputation on safety issues, and to
assure that emerging regulations are practical, sensible and
effective. Our expert staff ensures that members stay informed of
all the latest toy safety developments with e-updates delivered straight
to their inbox along with a detailed webinar series that outlines the
Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) and how to comply.
Members have the opportunity to attend these webinars free of charge and
receive expert insight and ideas for implementing and complying with the
provisions of the CPSIA. Upcoming webinars will focus on testing
and certification, activity related to warning labels in advertising and
lead and phthalates requirements.
Manufacturer
Contacts and Company Promotion
The online TIA Member Directory is available exclusively to members
24/7 with real time information. This searchable tool assists
members in making new industry contacts and connecting with prospective
customers. Inventors/Designers and Manufacturer Representatives
are also listed in our online Resource Directory. TIA Associate
Members are automatically listed for free, but non-members do have the
opportunity include their contact information for a fee of $150.
Trade Show
Discounts
Members of TIA receive exclusive benefits at trade
events such as Fall Toy Preview and Toy Fair. Discount rates and
priority points on exhibit space are available to members only as well
as a 30% discount on material handling costs for advance crated or
skidded shipments at Toy Fair. TIA members can also access the
members-only business center and receive discounts on advertising and
sponsorship opportunities.
Networking
Forums
TIA hosts a variety of events that help members build industry
relationships and bring exposure to their business. Fall Toy
Preview and the member-exclusive ToyCon each boasts a networking
reception where attendees are sure to make valuable industry
connections. The Toy of the Year Awards (TOTY) is another
wonderful event that honors the best toys developed by the international
toy industry for North American consumers. TOTY, hosted on the
first night of Toy Fair, is a great place to meet with industry
executives and celebrate each other’s achievements.
Comprehensive
Business Insurance
TIA has partnered with HUB International to offer members
comprehensive insurance packages for their business. HUB offers
coverage including professional liability insurance and employee health
programs to companies with 5 or more employees. HUB’s consultative
approach and competitive prices has supported risk management strategies
and business growth of TIA members for many years.
Increased Lobbying
Efforts
The TIA effectively represents the toy industry on a vast array of
legislative and regulatory issues in the U.S. and around the
globe. Our Government Affairs team has been able to accomplish a
number of legislative proposals including federal preemption of
proliferating state lead and phthalate standards; exemption of
inaccessible parts and electronics from new lead standards; development
of an electronic solution for certification requirements; and exemption
for inventory from phthalate standard. The team is continuously
working to assure that emerging regulations for implementing new federal
laws are practical and sensible as well as effective.
