Free Webinar Offers Guidance on France’s Post-Consumer Toy Disposal Requirements

July 7, 2022 | The Toy Association encourages all members to gain the latest learning on a new end-of-life requirement for all toys sold in France via an informative, free July 18 webinar hosted by the country’s eco-organization for toys, Eco-Mobilier. (Under the new mandate all toy producers must have a contract in place with Eco-Mobilier.) Registration is open.

Taking place from 10 to 11 a.m. (Eastern), the session will address all the requirements needed to comply with the new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) mandate, which took effect at the start of 2022 and tasks manufacturers with an obligation for the treatment or disposal of consumer products sold in France. (Writing/drawing articles and electronic toys are exempt from the requirements.) Presenters will discuss the mandate’s scope, packaging requirements, financial obligations, deadlines, and more. Participants will also be able to engage in a Q&A during the session.

“The toy market in France is one of growth and opportunity − up 14 percent in 2021, while the increasing complexity of regulatory compliance in France must also be well understood by toymakers,” said Steve Pasierb, president & CEO of The Toy Association. “As embracing sustainability rises in importance around the world, our valued colleagues at counterpart toy association Fédération Française des Industries Jouet Puériculture (FJP) have worked tirelessly advocating for the toy and play community while helping companies comply with evolving regulations. We deeply appreciate the efforts of FJP and Eco-Mobilier to create this special English-language opportunity for our members.”
