Canadian Toy Association to Showcase “Best of the Industry” at Fall Events

September 22, 2016 | The Canadian Toy Association (CTA) is seeking toys and games to be featured at two upcoming events that will showcase the “best of the industry” in front of media and policymakers:

  • In celebration of the start of the holiday season, CTA will host its 14th Annual Hot Toys for the Holidays media event on November 22nd at the Ontario Science Center in Toronto. CTA and U.S. Toy Industry Association (TIA) members with operations in Canada are invited to submit their projected best-sellers for the 2016 holiday season to be featured at the signature showcase, where groups of children will be in attendance to play with the toys and discuss their favorite picks with the media.

This year’s call for submissions process has been updated; members are encouraged to review the document carefully before submitting their “best bets for the season.” Written submissions must be received by October 1, 2016.
  • CTA is also seeking toys to be displayed at a Federal Government Reception taking place on October 22nd at the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa, Ontario. Members of Parliament, senators, Health Canada officials and representatives of government agencies will be on-hand to hear about the industry’s economic impact and commitment to safety; toys on display will demonstrate the innovative and creative spirit of the Canadian toy industry.

Both CTA and TIA members with operations in Canada are invited to submit products for this event; please consult the call for submissions document for more information. Items must be shipped by October 13, 2016.

“These upcoming events are a terrific opportunity to highlight the toy industry’s ‘cream of the crop,’” said Danielle Russell, CTA senior association manager. “As we approach the holidays, we look forward to shining a spotlight on our members’ innovative playthings and the important role that their products play in the well-being and healthy development of kids of all ages.”

Questions regarding these opportunities may be directed to CTA’s Danielle Russell.
