ICPHSO International Symposium to Take Place during “Product Safety Week” in EU

August 17, 2016 | The International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO) will bring together product safety professionals from across industries and global markets to discuss issues of interest to product safety professionals at its International Symposium in Brussels, Belgium on November 14-15, 2016. The event is being held in conjunction with the European Commission’s (EC) International Product Safety Week 2016, which runs through November 18.

The theme of this year’s event, “Joining the Dots: Safety and Cooperation in the Connected World,” relates to a variety of discussions that will take place among global health and safety officials regarding the digital economy, risks posed by new technologies, traceability, how to operate in an unaligned world, best practices for meeting global regulatory requirements and voluntary standards, and more. Attendees will draw from various sectors, including toys, apparel, footwear, juvenile products, and electrical products, among others.

Both the ICPHSO Symposium and the EC’s Product Safety Week will also build on discussions about global online sales of consumer products that took place during the recently held Trilateral Product Safety Summit in Beijing, attended by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, AQSIQ China and the European Commission.

“The annual International Symposium is a great venue for toy safety professionals and others in the ICPHSO community to exchange information and perspectives on achievement of greater alignment between safety standards and enforcement, and other related issues,” said Alan Kaufman, TIA’s senior vice president of technical affairs, immediate past president of ICPHSO and member of the Symposium Planning Committee.

Product safety professionals interested attending the symposium are encouraged to visit the event website to register and learn more.
