TIA Launches 2017 Toy Industry Financial & Operating Benchmark Study

March 21, 2017 | The Toy Industry Association (TIA) has once again partnered with Industry Insights to conduct a confidential Toy Industry Financial & Operating Benchmark Study, which will enable member companies to see how their financial metrics compare to other companies of similar size, category, and distribution channel.

The 2017 study will collect and analyze financial information from TIA member companies engaged in the manufacture, importing, and distribution of toys. Data will be used to provide a barometer to assess companies’ own financial performance and assist them in making sound business decisions.

Participation on the study is free. The questionnaire can be completed securely online or via hard copy (mailed to members this week). The online survey has a “save and return” function that will allow participants to save responses and return to complete or to make changes to their responses. The survey period will close on April 21, 2017.

All responses will be returned directly to Industry Insights, where they will be kept in strict confidence. TIA will receive total industry and aggregated data only.

Participants will receive a confidential complimentary report of their company’s information – which includes “grades” on key operating ratios and industry totals aggregated by key segments.  Only those companies who submit responses will be able to compare their own financial information alongside the data.

“Now that the survey is in its third year, companies that participated in the 2013 and 2015 editions of the financial benchmark survey will receive six years’ worth of trend information – a valuable tool in establishing how their company stacks up against others in today’s competitive toy industry,” said Anne McConnell, TIA’s senior director of market research & data strategy.

TIA members who do not participate in the study may purchase the aggregated results for $1,500. The survey will not be available for purchase by non-members.

Questions regarding survey specifics may be directed to Michael Becher, vice president of Industry Insights (614.389.2100 ext. 114). All other questions may be directed to TIA’s Anne McConnell (646.520.4870).
