Upcoming Webinar: Overview of STEM/STEAM and its Application in Toys and Play

July 5, 2018 | Toy professionals interested in learning more about the STEM/STEAM movement are encouraged to register for an upcoming Toy Association webinar, “Decoding STEM/STEAM: An Overview of STEM & STEAM and the Role Toys Play in Teaching the Concepts to Children.”

Taking place Thursday, August 9 at 2 p.m. (Eastern), the webinar is based on a new report released by The Toy Association’s STEM/STEAM Strategic Leadership Committee. The session will focus on the report’s key findings, including the history and meaning of the terms STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics); myths and messages revealed by the committee; and barriers that hold kids back from entering STEM-related careers.

The webinar will also highlight the advantages of toys and play vs. formal education in teaching STEM/STEAM concepts, ideas that manufacturers can use when developing STEAM-based toys, and a sneak peek at future Toy Association STEM/STEAM initiatives.

Jean Bailey, toy industry consultant and project manager of The Toy Association’s STEM/STEAM Strategic Leadership Committee, will lead the presentation alongside Ken Seiter, The Toy Association’s executive vice president of marketing communications.

Registration for the webinar is now open; the session is free for Toy Association members and $49 for non-members who wish to participate.

Questions about Toy Association webinars may be directed to Anne McConnell, The Toy Association’s senior director of market research and data strategy.
