Get Involved: Volunteer for a Good Cause at The Toy Foundation’s Annual “Play Your Part” Events

June 3, 2019 | Hundreds of disadvantaged children will get to experience fun-filled days of play this summer at The Toy Foundation’s (TTF) upcoming volunteer events: Play Your Part LA, taking place on Wednesday, June 26, and Play Your Part Chicago, taking place on Wednesday, July 17.

TTF’s national Play Your Part event series brings toy industry professionals together to positively impact local children in need. Volunteers can lead an arts & crafts activity station, write letters of support at the note-card writing station, participate as a face-painting artist, or make a child’s day by handing them their very own toy at the toy distribution tables.

Toy companies can show their support by encouraging staff to volunteer, sponsoring an activity station, and/or by donating toys and games that will be distributed to children facing abuse, addiction, homelessness, hunger, or other adversities. Toys for all ages are being accepted for both events, including arts & crafts activities, books, dolls, games, plush, puzzles, and sports toys.

“The Foundation’s successful Play Your Part events are a rewarding way for the toy industry to give back to those who need it most,” said Elizabeth Max, TTF’s senior foundation manager. “We are thrilled to be able to create opportunities that allow underprivileged children suffering various hardships to enjoy a fun afternoon with toys and play. These children will be eagerly lining up to play with your games and activities. Join us for a meaningful day in Los Angeles or Chicago.”

Details of the events are as follows:

  • Play Your Part LA, will take place at the Dream Center in Los Angeles, CA from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Play Your Part Chicago will take place at Guaranteed Rate Field (home of the Chicago White Sox) in Chicago, IL from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be sponsored in partnership with Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).

Individuals and companies looking to participate in either event should contact TTF’s Elizabeth Max (646.520.4851) to sign up or for more information. (Please note shipping of all toy donations is required in advance; toys are required to be sent directly to Los Angeles and Chicago.)
