Toy Association’s Rebecca Mond Speaks on U.S.-China Trade Relationship at Guangzhou Toy Fair

Rebecca Mond April 15, 2019 | Rebecca Mond, The Toy Association’s vice president of federal government affairs, spoke in front of a packed audience during the “Toy Talks Forum” at the Guangzhou International Toy & Education Fair last week.

Co-produced by the Guangdong Toy Association, the Messe Frankfurt, and Global Toy Experts, the forum brought together global toy industry experts to share their views on the rapidly changing toy landscape – in China and around the world.

During her presentation, Mond discussed the U.S.-China trade relationship and underscored the importance of free trade and collaboration between the American and Chinese toy markets. She also spoke about The Toy Association’s white paper, “The Real Threat of Fake Toys,” and said that intellectual property (IP) protection is an area of potential collaboration between the U.S. and Chinese toy industries. IP protection was also a top discussion point during a separately held roundtable meeting attended by global toy association representatives – including Mond and individuals from Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan – as well as members of the retail sector.

“We were happy to participate in the Toy Talks Forum and the Guangzhou Toy Fair and speak on behalf of the U.S. toy industry in front of an international audience,” said Mond. “It was an excellent opportunity to spread awareness about important U.S. toy industry issues and discuss future areas of collaboration with key players in the Chinese toy market.”
