trends-2021January 19, 2021 | In 2020, consumers around the world sought comfort and edutainment through toys and games that sparked sales growth across multiple categories of playthings. Now, The Toy Association’s trends team will come together in a digital release of its “Toy Trends Briefing” on February 16, to unveil the top toy and play trends emerging in 2021.

“Although we are only a few weeks into the new year, we are seeing consumers continue to find value in incorporating play into their everyday routines,” said Adrienne Appell, senior vice president of marketing communications at The Toy Association. “Based on our trends team’s recent findings from virtual meetings and conversations with toymakers and retailers across the industry, we can’t wait to share the innovative products that kids and adults will be clamoring for and delve further into the industry-wide impact of COVID-19 on the future of play in our much-anticipated annual presentation."

This year’s briefing will also offer a more in-depth analysis of the state of the global toy industry with perspectives from both The Toy Association’s President & CEO Steve Pasierb and The NPD Group’s Vice President & Industry Advisor for Toys, Juli Lennett. Lennett’s analysis of U.S. toy industry results for 2020 will help set the stage for what is expected to unfold in 2021.

Retail buyers, media, and other play professionals can mark their calendars for the digital release of The Toy Association’s 2021 “Toy Trends Briefing” on February 16. The presentation will be made available for viewing to all on The Toy Association’s YouTube channel.
