Accredited STEAM Toys to be Featured on Amazon

August 8, 2022 | Toys that have earned an official STEAM Stamp of Approval through The Toy Association’s STEAM Toy Accreditation program will now be featured on Amazon, providing shoppers with a curated collection of learning toys that have been rigorously evaluated by experts for their educational and play value.

The launch aligns with The Toy Association’s recently unveiled “Back to School STEAM Toy Shopping List,” which highlights 25 officially accredited STEAM toys to support learning for kids of all ages during the upcoming academic year. Toys from this list, as well as other previously accredited STEAM toys, will be featured on Amazon.

“Teaming up with Amazon not only gives these accredited toys added exposure during the back-to-school shopping season, but it also offers parents an easy-access guide to products that parents can feel confident will help their children build essential STEAM skills,” said Anna Yudina, senior director of marketing initiatives at The Toy Association. “From engaging coding and building toys to kits that encourage kids to explore music theory, math, and engineering concepts, Amazon’s STEAM Accredited Toys page will provide countless options, all vetted through our accreditation process.”

Launched by The Toy Association in partnership with Dr. Gummer’s Good Play Guide ™, the STEAM Toy Accreditation Program sets the industry’s first standard for evaluating and certifying STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) products for children. Each approved toy has passed a strict criteria established in The Toy Association’s STEAM Toy Assessment Framework. Toys are first play tested by children under professional observation and then evaluated by The Good Play Guide™. Headed by Dr. Amanda Gummer, a neuropsychologist with more than 20 years of experience working with kids and families, The Good Play Guide™ uses a scientifically proven method to evaluate each toy.

The accreditation period is ongoing. Toy companies and brands that wish to have their playthings evaluated can find complete details about the STEAM Toy Accreditation Program at ToyAssociation.org/STEAM. Toy Association membership is not required.
