adrienne-appell-cbs-nyNovember 28, 2023 | The Toy Association's trends team has been in the media over the past couple of weeks, promoting the must-have toys of the holidays and discussing consumer toy shopping trends with leading outlets.

Adrienne Appell, executive vice president of marketing communications at The Toy Association, joined WCBS New York on November 27 to discuss how toy shopping habits have shifted since the Cabbage Patch Kids toy craze of 1983. Members of The Toy Association’s trends team have also been featured in the news, talking about members’ products, holiday trends, and consumer spending.

The Toy Association’s Maddie Michalik, assistant manager of content & digital communications, joined Good Day Philadelphia on November 21 to showcase ’23 Toy of the Year® (TOTY®) Award winners and finalists (here and here) ahead of the Turkey 5 (the five days between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday). Jennifer Lynch, content developer at The Toy Association, also recently spoke with ABC News Live and Fox Business on the popularity of the “kidult” toy consumer trend as well as Cheddar News about holiday toy spending.

Coverage to date has featured an array of member companies including Build-A-Bear, Crayola, Educational Insights, Fat Brain Toys, Jazwares, Just Play, KidKraft, LEGO, Mattel, Razor, Relatable, Spin Master, and Ty, Inc.

“The Toy Association is actively seizing opportunities to keep TOTY winners and finalists top of mind for the holidays, but also to showcase other members within the framework of our key trends discussed throughout the year,” said Appell. “Highlighting these products in the media underscores our commitment to spotlighting the toy industry’s innovation and promoting play as a necessity for everyone’s physical and emotional wellbeing.”
